Ace Water Spa

I have been hearing a lot about Ace Water Spa that when it was offered in Metrodeal I was ecstatic! My good friend, Melissa, and I immediately planned to go there and last Saturday we finally redeemed our voucher in their Pasig branch. It was fantastic!

According to their website Ace Water Spa uses Hydrotherapy massage. "It is a kind of therapeutic massage that utilizes Ultrasonic Jet System that massages specific areas of the body with its aquatic jets strategically located to relax and soothe tired and aching muscles.

Cameras are not allowed once you get inside the locker room for obvious reasons. You wouldn’t want to be accidentally in a photo background while in your undies, do you? If you brought your swimwear collection, don’t fret. They have a spacious locker room and you can wear the keys as bracelet. Beside the lockers were the changing and shower rooms. You have to shower first before entering the spa area. Their shower has a soap and shampoo dispenser so you also don’t have to worry about that. Blow dryers are available if you don’t want to leave with wet hair after your spa.

The entrance to the pool/spa and just below it are the cabinets for your towels.
Behind those fountains are the spa areas.
You just have to press a button and viola! a jet of water instantly massages your body. The water runs for 2-3 minutes and automatically stops after. If you want to be massaged longer you just have to press it again. There are placards posted in every massage area so you know what everything is for. If it’s your first time you might want to read first before pressing anything. The ones labeled “hard” were really hard. My skin got reddish after the hard massages but it was well worth it. There is a poster above the sauna area that recommends what activities you do first. Lucky me Melissa has already been to Ace lots of times before so I had my personal tour guide. :))

The lap pool. Unlimited swimming here.
Tickets are good for 4 hours. Sulit na sulit. They provide swim caps. Fitted swimwear is required preferably spandex material. Trunks for the boys/men. T-shirts and beach shorts are not allowed in the spa area. The only thing you get to bring when you leave the locker room is your towel. For the ladies don’t worry if you have a large tummy or small bumpers, you can wear a two-piece if you like. Read: Nobody cares. Everybody in there is busy massaging themselves.

How To Get There: Ride a taxi. :)) For those who are “taxi-allergic” we asked the hotel guard how to ride a jeepney back to Megamall. He then pointed the way to a Jollibee intersection (Pioneer St.). He says it was there were the jeepneys pass by. But after a few steps we realized we wouldn’t make it that far. It was so hot that afternoon we decided to ride a cab instead. Sorry guys. Anyway Megamall isn’t that far. We only paid around Php60 for the cab. See?

By the way, bring your own towel. In case you forgot, they have towels and fitted swimwear for rent. Oh and if you want the whole spa to yourself I suggest going there in the morning. The place gets crowded during afternoons.

Hope you enjoy Ace as much as Melissa and I did!

Fat Me Not

Shallow Hal

I have been called fat, slim and sexy all in one day! So what am I really? It just goes to show that different people have different perception of what is fat, payatot and sexy. We live in an era that almost everybody wants to be skinny. When you’re lean you can run faster, move quickly and best of all wear all kinds of dresses and it would still look good and decent on you. A woman on the extra L size doesn’t have the liberty to pick any dress she wants. Take me for example. I have big “bumpers” and I love wearing those spaghetti straps as much as the next thinnest model does. But I have to pick the occasion when I wear them lest I look like kalapating mababa ang lipad.

We actually don’t need to be told what we are because we, ourselves, know it even if we don’t accept it. I know when I am fat. I know when I got trimmer. I’m not going to say slim or slender because I know I’m not. I’m one of those girls with “big bones” as they say. And I think being sexy is how you carry yourself. Sometimes when I’ve gotten myself fat over a holiday I just tell myself that I’m sexy. So I go out, dress and act sexy and it shows. People would give me an admiring comment and say I look good.

I just gave birth a few months ago and I still have this stubborn little tummy bump on me that won’t go away. But there was this one time I wore a medyo tight dress to the office. Yep. Mabuhay ang matatapang! All day I got complimented on how thin and sexy I look. During our afternoon break I went to the restroom but I forgot to take my “stomach-in” and suddenly I’m being told I’m fat. It’s funny how people judge your fatness by the size of your stomach.

Over the years I have learned to take praises and criticisms in stride. Well, I have to because if I didn’t I would surely have a miserable life. Sometimes I would tell myself that is just how movie stars are. Everyone has an opinion on you. Just like pregnancy, be it an advice or pamahiin on how you carry your baby, everybody you meet has something to say. But that’s another topic altogether. What I am saying is you can’t control the people around you. The only thing you can control is yourself. If you are praised, smile and say thanks. If you are criticized, smile and count your blessings!

The Love Day

"You steal the time. You steal a date, you steal a kiss, you steal a whisper. After the kids are asleep you... well, you know. Whatever it is. You slip away for a night."  ~Jennifer Garner

Today is "the" day. The day that thousands of couples would flock to the malls, restaurants and ermm.. hotels, as what most advertising slogan says, for a day filled with love and romance. But for new parents like J and I, this day would be celebrated elsewhere. We think that Valentine's Day isn't just for couples. It can also be for friends or in our case, for family. Our Marley is still too little to go out so we decided to celebrate it in our home. Tipid na hassle free pa.

On this night J and I wanted to spend it with our baby so I made homemade popcorn. Yes we had home movie! I know it is the night of romance but I'm just not a fan of romantic movies so we watched Skyfall. Barilan with James Bond! hahaha! J would enjoy it more anyway. Had I put a cheesy movie on I would have had to drag his butt to the sofa. So here we are enjoying the start of the movie..

..that's me lounging in our sofa until Marley got bored in her rocker and wanted to be picked up. We  played for a wile and then sometime later I feed her and put her to bed. By the time she was fast asleep the movie was already nearing its end. So basically what I saw was the start and the end part of the movie. Sigh. But that's ok. I returned to my previous lying position and felt content seeing my baby sleeping soundly and J by my side holding me. I'll watch the middle part some other time.

PS. I would like to say a big thanks to J for the baby pink flowers :) When I was younger (like last year) I always told myself that I'd marry the one who'll give me flowers. I got married nalang and have yet to receive a single flower. That's how J is. Walng ka-romance-romance sa katawan. But I'm not complaining. I know who I married. He makes up for it in other ways anyway. So last night I made a big hint on what I want for Valentines Day. "J I want flowers. Not plastic. Delivered." Yes I'm blunt like that. I'm not going to get what I want if I won't voice it out noh. So earlier this morning J took me straight to the flower vendor in our office and brought me this. It was not delivered but still I'm grateful I get to have flowers on Valentines Day and be told I'm loved. I love him more. Keso! Anyway excuse the plastic container, it was my first time to receive flowers so I don't have a flower vase at home.

Sailing to Boracay

My sister-in-law, Tin-tin asked me to help her plan a trip to Boracay for her and her husband JPaul. I enjoy scouring the net for cheap airfares and hotels so of course I obliged. :)  Just a side thought: maybe i should put up a travel agency since I'm always excited to plan a trip or vacation even if it's not for me. Well now back to topic, Tin-tin tells me they are on a budget and will be traveling the soonest. From my experience, traveling on a budget and going ASAP does not really coincide. True enough, airfares on their planned dates were on the ultimate high. Tintin then tells me she heard a friend about a boat that sails from Batangas Port straight to Caticlan. Now that's news! How come I haven't heard about it. Anyway,  I googled it and this is what I got.

                                                                          2Go Travel

From what I gathered 2Go started operating the Batangas-Caticlan-Batangas route early 2011. (Leave a comment if that's not the case :)) The boat leaves Batangas Port at 9pm everyday except Wednesday and arrives in Caticlan at 6am the next day. I think it's perfect since you can start your Bora activities early in the moring. The Caticlan-Batangas route was quite tricky since the boat leaves Caticlan at 8am and the earliest bangka from Boracay is at 5am. But 2Go requires it's passengers to be on the port 4 hours before departure. Daig pa ang international flights.Kaloka. I called the 2Go office in Aklan to tell them my dilemma. They told me I may not follow the 4 hours rule. I just have to be in the port not later than 45 minutes before departure. So ayan one problem down. :)By the way, the Caticlan-Batangas route travels everyday except Tuesdays.

If you're planning to go and is travelling leisurely why not try sailing to Boracay! :) That is, if you don't mind shelling extra pesos for an extra night in Boracay. I know, ang daming extra!

Well then, what are you waiting for. Byahe na!
